We are moving to using mostly telephone consults during the corona virus outbreak. These are available for all your general medical concerns when you don't need to physically see the doctor. Should a doctor's visit be required, these can mostly be arranged on the day of your appointment.
Should it be required, we have capacity to see patients at the surgery in our isolation room. We will determine the need for this via phone.
Telephone consultations will be charged and billed as normally, with those on health care cards and pensions, as well as those in high risk groups, being bulk billed and others being billed according to our standard Fees and Charges.
We are working on providing video consultations, which will be available soon.
High risk groups
For patients in at risk groups we can do a bulk-billed telephone consult for any reason in order to reduce your risk of exposure.
Risk groups are:
- Is required to self-isolate or self-quarantine in accordance with guidance issued by the health department
- Age over 70
- Age over 50 and ATSI
- Pregnant
- A parent of a child under 12 months
- A person with a chronic health condition
- Immunosuppressed
- Meets the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection
These groups are not related to health-care card or income status, and are on the basis of medical need only.
If you are in these risk groups, please contact the practice for a telephone consult. We will consider your circumstances and bring you in to the practice should it be required.
Picking up prescriptions and other documentation following your consult.
We are able to send any prescriptions directly to the pharmacy in the neighbouring building for preparation and pick up. Our staff make several trips daily to the pharmacy to drop off scripts. Should you arrive before the prescription gets there, please pick up your prescription from reception.
Other documentation including referrals, imaging requests, pathology requests, or anything else can be picked up at the front desk at your convenience, or faxed, emailed, or posted either to you or to the provider. Many providers are now offering electronic referral where booking is made on-line. We request that anyone living locally pick up any documentation when possible, to avoid large volumes of post being generated.
